Description
A hearty Hungarian dish featuring tender mushrooms in a rich, creamy paprika sauce. Serve it with noodles, rice, or bread for a comforting meal.

- 500g mushrooms, sliced
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add onions and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add mushrooms and cook until they release their juices, about 8 minutes.
- Stir in garlic, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well.
- Pour in vegetable broth and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in sour cream. Heat gently for 2 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley if desired and serve hot.
Notes
- Use fresh mushrooms for best texture.
- Adjust paprika to taste for more or less spice.
- If the sauce is too thick, thin it with a little extra broth.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
