Description
Hashweh is a flavorful Middle Eastern dish made with spiced ground meat and rice. Cooked cucumbers offer a unique side dish.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cucumbers, sliced
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
- Add ground meat and cook until browned.
- Stir in cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pepper.
- Add rice and 2 cups water, bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- For cucumbers, melt butter in a pan.
- Add garlic and sliced cucumbers.
- Cook until cucumbers are tender.
- Serve hashweh with cooked cucumbers.
Notes
- Use lean ground meat for less fat.
- Rinse rice before cooking for better texture.
- Adjust spices to your taste.
