Description

A creative fusion dessert, these bites feature a rich, creamy cheesecake filling with a burst of strawberry flavor, all encased in a crispy, deep-fried wonton wrapper. They’re perfect for sharing at parties or enjoying as a unique sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • (Optional) Fresh diced strawberries for extra flavor

For the Wontons:

  • 2024 wonton wrappers
  • Water (to moisten and seal the edges)
  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

For Serving (Optional):

  • Whipped cream
  • Extra strawberry jam or sauce
  • Fresh strawberry slices

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling:
Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Either dollop a small amount of strawberry jam into the center of each portion or stir in some diced strawberries for added texture.

  • Assemble the Wonton Bites:
Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling into the center. Moisten the edges with a little water and fold the wrapper over the filling into a triangle or envelope shape. Press firmly to seal and eliminate air bubbles.

  • Fry the Bites:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wonton bites in batches for about 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan, then remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  • Serve:
Enjoy the wonton bites warm, optionally accompanied by whipped cream, extra strawberry sauce, and fresh strawberry slices.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is at the correct temperature to ensure a crispy exterior and to prevent excessive oil absorption.
  • Work in small batches during frying to maintain the ideal texture.
  • You can adjust the amount of strawberry jam according to your desired level of sweetness.
